Brand Spotlight: Noyah

I was recently on the hunt for affordable clean beauty and hit the jackpot.

I walked into one of my favorite stores to shop beauty (obviously, I’m talking about Target) and looked at the small section of natural and clean beauty. Among some well known brands of varying prices, a small shelf of lip glosses caught my eye. I grabbed a coral shade, thinking it could double as a blush color, and went to check out. My reasoning was that it wasn’t the biggest loss of $10 if it turned out to be a poor product.

I was pleasantly surprised when I applied the gloss. The shade was intensely pigmented with the first swipe and felt hydrating without being sticky. I also dotted it onto my cheeks and the consistency felt more like a cream blush than a lip gloss. The result was a glows and natural looking flush. Now I was intrigued.

I decided to go back and true some more shades in the range, including some lipsticks.

The Brand

In 2013, medical doctor Josh Gordon founded noyah Natural Cosmetics in New York City. The serial entrepreneur believed that the chic women he was seeing use makeup in the city swap out some of the more toxic formulas they were using for a natural alternative, all while maintaining their level of chic. The result was ten lipsticks, twelve lip glosses, six regular lip balms, two food-grade lip balms, and one food-grade lip scrub. These latter three are created in a kitchen and are safe for everyone to ingest as they are made from edible ingredients like olive oil and vanilla extract. Most of us inadvertently ingest our lip products so might as well make them delicious.

The packaging is what many of us have come to associate with natural makeup, made from sustainable bamboo. The gloss shades are more limited and priced at $16 on the brand website but they are $9.99 at Target.
