Vampy Lips for All
Did you catch the amazing Saoirse Ronan on the red carpet of the Critic's Choice Awards? No?
Here's the look:
There are two things that I immediately noticed about this look when I went to recreate it on YouTube.
1. This makeup will look good on literally any skin tone.
2. The skin is flawless, thanks to some strategic highlighting and concealing.
Check out my tutorial at the end of this post and peep the products you might want to pick up if you want to recreate Saoirse's look for yourself.
This is the ultimate in matte lipsticks. I received this shade as a sample around the same time that I was considering doing the tutorial of Saoirse. I thought it was kismet. This shade is luxe, with a softness to the formula that makes it easily blendable. The design of the packaging allows you to angle the lipstick so that you can use the edge to line your lips before filling them in with color. A+ to Rihanna and her team on this. I've already sent off for more shades.
This is the gloss I layered over the matte lip to give it a high shine and add dimension to the look. I also love adding this gloss on top of a red lip for an extra saucy look. Glossy lips are making a major comeback and it's something I anticipate we will see a lot of in the coming fashion weeks. After so many years of drying matte, I am so ready for a it of shine.
In my tutorial, I used an eyeliner to define and fill in the lips for this look. Turns out, Kara did the same thing! If you are hesitant to try that just yet, pick up this lip liner in Vamp. It won't give you the dark-as-night shade that was on Saoirse but it is a good shade and formula for a beginner. The brush at the end of the pencil will allow you to blend the color in or apply your favorite dark plum lipstick on top.
Are you ready to take this look to the next level? These lipsticks are beyond buttery soft and super pigmented. Set with a little powder and your pour will stay all night. I've been a fan of the line's brown tones but I need to take this violet based black for a spin. Time to get my truff on. *adds to cart*
When wearing this look it's important that your skin is hydrated and your lips are soft. Otherwise, the look will wear you. This is my favorite balm of all time. It's a gorgeous rose scent and I carry a jar in every purse. Put this on your lips first thing and then start working on the other parts of the look.
Pro tip: Add this to the cheekbones after you're done so that the skin looks blurred and glowy.
